Skipper Grand Designs Revision: Part 1

Skipper have some I Am Learning and Mathletics activities to complete to assist with their revision for the STEM test for Grand Designs. All students should complete all tasks, as there will be more set next week. The deadline is Saturday 23rd. Please remind students of the benefits of thorough revision in meeting minimum expected grades for the expedition.

Admiral Homework

1. Mathletics. Students have a lot of exercises to work on over the two week break in prep for the Grand designs test in the first week back. The test will be on sequences and ratios.

2. Revise for Grand Designs test. I’ll be posting some links to help on google classroom. Students have been asked to do something with the information to revise, not just to read it i.e. make cue cards, do a test on BBC bitesize, make a mind map etc. The science part of the test will be on DNA, genes, adaptations, food chains and food webs and natural selection

3. Correct mistakes from the Chefistry test. Students have been given their chefistry test papers to take home. They have been asked to try to correct any mistakes they made so they can sit FIX tests as soon as they come back. If they are still stuck we can give them more support in FIX sessions. Again I’ll post some links on google classroom to help.

The deadline for all of this is the first Monday back.

Skipper Homework Due Thursday 14th 16.30

Skipper have a piece of homework to complete which is based on food chains and ecology pyramids. Students each have a template assigned to them on Google Classroom, with instructions, that they should complete. This is an assessed piece of work and the rubric for this can be found on the last page of the template. Students should be aware that this work can used to support their scientific writing for their final product and so it will be very helpful complete this in a timely manner.

Admiral Homework

1. Additional species research. Students need to add to their existing species research homework, to be ready to write about the species on Monday. In particular they need to make sure they have enough information on adaptations, habitat, status and an interesting fact. THIS IS DUE IN MONDAY’S LESSON

2. Mathletics, each student has a personalised set of activities. THIS IS DUE ON TUESDAY AT 8PM

3. Some students have been set MyMaths times table practice to get ready for some long division FIX.

Crew Hillary Homework

Students must:

1. Leave critique through comments on someone else’s book review in drive.

2. Get critique from others on their own book review.

3. Redraft their own book review.

Deadline is Tuesday morning’s crew session on 5th May.
