GwynHead

Gwyn ap Harri BSc, NPQH

Managing Director, realsmart.co.uk

After self-made careers in IT and Music, Gwyn became a Teacher, working at Hatfield Visual Arts College as Head of ICT with SLT responsibilities.

In 2006, Gwyn left full time teaching to form realsmart.co.uk where he designs his innovative learning portfolio software, realsmart, which is now being used in over 300 schools in the UK and around the world.

Gwyn has worked at senior levels with various organisations creating bespoke systems to improve education. Designing systems for the SSAT and the DfE amongst others, his technology is used to underpin whole school improvement at a national scale.

Gwyn has presented at many national events, representing Becta, the SSAT and the DfE and has articles published in the national press and worldwide blogs.

In September 2011, Gwyn achieved National Professional Qualification for Headship while still being Managing Director of realsmart, highlighting his determination to positively affect the life opportunities of our young learners.

He is an Associate Governor of Green Top Primary school in Thorne where his two sons attend.

 

BEECHEY

Stephen Beechey BSc MA MCIOB MAPM

Head of Education, Wates Construction & Group Investment Director, Wates Group

Stephen started his career in construction in construction in 1987 with the Tarmac Group as an Engineer.  Having established himself in this discipline and achieved chartered status he gained expertise in estimating, quantity surveying and design management.

Having worked across various construction related sectors since 2001 Stephen has specialised in the education sector. He has worked on the design, construction and financing of over 200 schools across the UK. During this time Stephen has developed a passion for education.

Stephen was involved in setting up some of the early Local Education Partnerships including Newham, Barnsley, Salford, Wigan, Barking, Dagenham and Luton. He has served as a director on the boards of all these partnerships which focused on delivering educational transformation within each borough. He still retains this role within Luton where an improvement of over 15% in 5A*-C performance has been achieved across the schools involved over the last 3 years.

He has also served as a Governor of his local 4FE primary school, Farnborough Road Primary School, for 5 years during the time his two children attended.

Currently Stephen is working closely with the Education Funding Agency on the development of the next wave of schools coming through the Priority School Building Programme. He has led the development of the Wates school offer, ADAPT school solutions.

He speaks nationally at many events each year on an education agenda and writes as a column for building magazine, focusing on education and investment.

 

MUNDIN

Steven Mundin

Senior Manager, Higher Rhythm Ltd

Steve is an experienced, motivated and dynamic leader who after starting his first business in the professional music industry, later progressed into teaching in Higher Education, then established the sector leading, regional social enterprise, Higher Rhythm, in 2001.

Steve has led and built partnerships with a wide range of bodies, from S.M.E.’s to multi-national organisations and government bodies, and has an expert knowledge of social enterprise and the creative / cultural / digital industries. Steve has also achieved many awards personally and for Higher Rhythm, most notably:

  • Doncaster Business Person of the Year
  • BETT Award, UK winner of BECTA ICT in Practice
  • Doncaster Social Enterprise of the Year
